You have 3x more lymph fluid than blood in your body

Did you know you have 3x more lymph fluid than blood in your body?

That's 15 liters worth of lymph fluid!

Crazy right?!

Plus there is no "pump" for the lymph fluid.

Instead what works as a pump is your muscles contracting which then work to pump fluid against gravity.

If you're mostly inactive, that can leave your lymph system stagnant.

What happens when you're lymph is stagnant?

Your body essential can become a swamp.

Toxins will accumulate and sit in the tissues where we don't want them which leads to a poor functioning immune system.

Once the lymph system slows down, this effects the other systems like the liver and gallbladder. Now you have more sluggish digestion, detoxification, hormone synthesis and lots more.

So if you're addressing things like digestion with probiotics and liver health with bitter herbs, but not addressing your lymph system, you are essentially making it really difficult for your body to properly utilize anything you put in.

What are the best ways to move that lymph fluid?

-Exercise is the number one way to properly pump lymph fluid as you are fighting gravity and contracting your muscles.

-Contract showers can be another great way to boost circulation and facilitate dilating and constricting blood vessels to move fluid.

-Dry brushing is fantastic and easy for anyone to get started with. You can even just use your hand. Check my stories for a video on the correct way to dry brush as there are many incorrect demonstrations floating around online. You do NOT want to just start at your feet and work your way up. Starting proximally and working distally is the correct way.

-HYDRATE! One of the easiest ways to get lymph moving is drink enough damn water! Make sure it's thoroughly filtered and add some sea salt for electrolytes.

-Skip the spandex. Wearing tight and restricting clothes will limit your tissues from moving freely and can lead to pool of fluid in areas with a lot of lymph nodes.

-DEEP breathes! Diaphragmatic breathing is the cheapest way to improve lymph flow, help move you into parasympathetic state and improve detoxification.
