FAQ

Q. What is a Functional Diagnostic Nutritional PRACTITIONER?

A. Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN) is a non-medical approach and an emerging field of work which bridges the gap between clinical nutrition and functional medicine. A FDN Practitioner is health-detective who seeks to identify and correct the underlying causes and conditions which lead to symptoms. Symptoms are typical the bodies last stage of trying to communicate to you that something is wrong and there is some underlying problem that needs to be addressed before turning into a diagnose-able disease. In other words, the symptoms are helpful clues in discovering where the origin of your health complaints are coming from and help to point the practitioner in the right direction. As a FDN-P I do not diagnose or treat any specific conditions.

Q. What is an integrative Health PRACTITIONER?

A. Integrative Health practitioners utilize an approach that seeks to integrate the best of Western scientific medicine with a broader understanding of the nature of illness, healing and wellness. This approach is more the cost-effective than other health care and focuses on lifestyle modifications including physical, emotional, spiritual, social and environmental to bring permanent change. The seven disciplines of IHP consists of Ayurvedic Medicine, Bioregulatory Medicine, Chinese Medicine and Herbalism, Eastern Philosophy, Traditional Naturopathy, Orthomolecular Medicine, and Functional medicine.

Q. Why get two certifications?

A. Personally, my education journey doesn’t stop at the first certification. I feel in order to be an excellent practitioner that is able to hone into each person’s specific needs, I need to be continually researching and self-educating because we are constantly making new discoveries in heath and what it means to be healthy. Thinking back to what I thought of health 10 years ago has changed drastically, so I feel it is my responsibility, as well as my passion to be a lifelong student. My goal for the future is to become an certified herbalist and certified Ayurvedic practitioner.
